Re: [NOVICE] make menuconfig??

hmm.. altså efter installation af ncurses-devel pakken , fik jeg lov at køre
'make menuconfig' uden problemer.
Derpå foreskriver min dokumentation følgende:
make dep
make clean
make zImage - denne giver dog efter et stykke tid en fejl om at 'System is
too bog' 'try bzImage or modules'

Da jeg ikke aner hvad forskellen er, forsøgte jeg derfor:
make bzImage - dette forløb uden nogen fejl (men hvad er forskellen mellem
dette og zImage?)
Dokumentationen siger derpå følgende:

if no serious error happens, the new kernel 'zImage' will be in
             /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/zImage.
          copy this file to root.
modify '/etc/lilo.conf' file to point to this new file.
          run 'lilo'
          reboot
så jeg gjorde følgende:
cp bzImage /root
Ændrede linien med 'image=/boot/wmlinuz-2.2.5-15' til 'image=/root/bzImage'
i 'etc/lilo.conf'
lilo blev svaret med 'Added linux*'
reboot

Dokumantationen siger så:

step 4: when system boots, the driver will be load. then the driver will
scan {0x300,0x280,0x320,0x340,0x360} port to see if a card is
          there.
(you can run 'dmesg' to see the boot message)
step 5: run netconfig to setup TCP/IP
(run 'ifconfig' or 'netstat -i' to see if there is a interface
        'ne0')
i network configurator angiver jeg følgende:
IP: 192.168.1.2
netmask: 255.255.255.0

men ifconfig giver intet om eth0 - hjælp
(jeg ved godt det er en lidt lang og træls omgang men det er vel lettest at
hjælpe når man har mest mulig information)

På forhånd tak
Jan Bentzen
